It’s directed by the Russo brothers, who directed 14 episodes of the show, including the truly wonderful Basic Rocket Science.

They also did Winter Soldier, which had an Abed cameo.

But seriously, the combination of actor and role that make up the cameo is so perfect it can be nothing other than an in-joke for Community fans. It’s really amazing.

I love Community. However, I can't in good conscience continue to give my money to these Marvel movies, especially after Ant Man and Avengers 2. It has to stop.
